Richard's Real Estate Thoughts: Chattanooga's Southern Belle - an afternoon on the river boat

Chattanooga's Southern Belle - an afternoon on the river boat

The Southern Belle is Chattanooga's feature river boat. It has 3 decks, dining, dancing, and wonderful views. You can be down at river level or high on the open upper deck. Day trips and night trips offer different perspectives of the Tennessee River, each beautiful.

This afternoon my wife and I joined a group of Riverbend Festival volunteers for a luncheon cruise. One of the many benefits of volunteering to help with the Riverbend Festival.

We traveled up and down the river, with views of Coolidge Park, the Hunter Museum, and the Tennessee Aquarium. The weather was cloudy but pleasant. The food was good. The entertainment - prizes ( we did not win anything), a DJ and dancing, the Tennessee River, and my wife - was excellent.

Richard- This is a very good Localism post on Chattanooga's Southern Belle, and your buttons look great!

Richard - Nice post. Most people have no idea how large the Tennessee river really is. Except of course Georgia, who is trying to claim part of it since it has 10 time the woter flow of any river in Georgia. It would solve all of thier water problems. Too bad, it's not part of Georgia.

Katerina,

Thanks for stopping by. I have been on the Southern Belle now 4 times. It is always nice.

Thanks also for the compliment on the buttons. They were hard to find, and I had to resize them for Localism. Still need to go back to some previous posts and change the footer to the smaller buttons.

Larry,

I see you have been keeping up with the news. The old boundaries evidently placed a good bit of the river in Georgia. It would seem possible to come to some type of arrangement with Georgia, but I have not studied the issue sufficiently thought to make an informed comment.

Thanks,

Richard

I wouldn't want to share that river with Georgia, either.  Great way to show your local stuff - view from the river boat.  I have been on the ones in New Orleans (years ago) and everything looked beautiful reflected on the water.

Hey Virginia,

It was a shame that the day was so overcast, because the reflections in the water were not so visible. It was a nice cool day and real fun.

Also, I am pleased with the photo slide. It is the first time I have used it, after seeing it on so many other posts. It is easy to edit and to change.

Richard - The photo slide is very cool.  I didn't see it, I just went back and looked at it.  I love Slide.com and Welcome Mat has a good one, too.

Virginia,

The photo slide widget is a good way to show numerous photos. I had seen wellcomemat.com before, in the days when my AR brain overload would not let me look into something else new.

Thanks for the reminder. Slide.com does not seem to have clear control features - start slide show, stop slide show, play music, stop music, repeat video, pause slide on single photo.

The creation and editing is very easy, however.

Richard, riverboat cruises are always tons of fun and you can let someone else do the driving while enjoying the views and a lazy afternoon of rest and relaxing.

Hi Richard,  I've never been on a Riverboat.....it looks fabulous :)       Your buttons are cool, I like the scrollover effect you used.

Kara,

Thanks for stopping by. The riverboat is one of the treats of Chattanooga. The city has spent a great deal of planning, energy, and money to revitalize the waterfront area. It has really paid off.

Bo,

We do not get on the riverboat often, but it is always fun. And it is just enjoying the view. We really do not hit the dance floor on the riverboat.

I really want to take a ride on the TN Aquarium river gorge boat. I think I am going to do a post on that boat trip, even before I take a ride on it.
